Key Duties and Responsibility
The core duties of a QC Microbiologist include microbiology operations, focusing on the thorough identification of organisms, as well as conducting tests for Total Aerobic Microbial Count(TAMC), Total Yeast and Mold Count (TYMC), Preservative Efficacy Testing (PET), sterility, endotoxin, and subsequent reporting of sample analyses.
Conduct regular microbiology tests on finished products to verify compliance with specifications for Total Aerobic Microbial Count (TAMC), Total Yeast and Mold Count (TYMC), and Preservative Efficacy Testing (PET).
Develop and validate microbiology methodologies for testing manufactured products to meet agreed specifications, ensuring compliance with current pharmacopeial standards and requirements.
Identification of microbe cultures using various microbiological techniques, eg, Gram stain, API kits.
Test Environmental Monitoring samples, qualify all microbiological laboratory equipment and provide sampling expertise for the taking of microbiological samples.
The role will include a mixture of routine and project activities, including the implementation of a new laboratory system.
To ensure that the environment in which the products have been made conforms to the requirements of GMP e.g. Environmental monitoring samples and personnel microbiological monitoring, plate reading and follow up of out of spec results.
To ensure that all documentation associated with QC’s microbiological activities is recorded each time and is clearly written.
Accurate reporting of microbiological results, assisting in investigation and production of reports in accordance with SOP.
To ensure that all QC’s microbiological equipment is calibrated and validated according to a maintenance schedule.
To write reports, SOPs and other documentation when required.
To support Quality Control to perform analytical testing of raw materials and finished products using analytical equipments like... HPLC, UV etc.
Any other duties as and when required.
Essential Experience, Skills and Abilities
Relevant Microbiology degree and previous experience working in a Microbiology laboratory.
Strong technical knowledge of Microbiological testing techniques, such as water testing, microbial limit testing and identification techniques. Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and application of GMP guidelines and regulations.
Able to work methodically and to tight deadlines.
